We’re excited to announce a new feature to Sweat365 that makes it even easier for you to track your fitness goals. If you have a Garmin device, like a Forerunner, Edge or other Garmin GPS or fitness tool, you can now automatically upload your workouts from your Garmin to your Sweat365 fitness Journal. To use the new Import Workouts feature, visit your Dashboard and choose “Import Workouts” from your “My Journal” menu item. From there, click on the Garmin logo and follow the instructions.
In order to use this feature, you will need to have the Garmin Communicator plugin installed for your browser. If you have a garmin, you probably already have it installed, but if you don’t we’ll detect that it is missing and point you to the right place to download it.
This new feature works on all major browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome) on both Mac and Windows computers.
Enjoy!

Sounds fantastic - do I detect one of the by-products of your renewed Garmin ownership?

You could say that… but also, we plan to add support for several devices. Next on the list is Nike+ support.

I used to use a different training log on the web - but I really like Sweat better cause of the ability to have friends and follow the progress of others… however there was one feature that I liked that perhaps you could consider adding??? The site had the capability to record your various shoes and use a drop down to select which pair you wore during your workout. Then the stats reported back to you the number of miles logged on that shoe… good feature. Something like that possible on Sweat? Your thoughts?

Brad Hefta-Gaub says:
@FrauSchmittle - That is a great idea. We have considered adding that feature. We have it on our “roadmap” as they say. Runners and Cyclists alike would like that feature to track various pieces of equipment like shoes, tires, wheels, chains, etc. We don’t have any specific plans to release that feature soon, but we do like the idea! Thanks for being a loyal fan!

Doesn’t work…at lease for me. It finds my device and sees some of the workouts (only the last few runs…missing some rides in the same time frame). When I import them they don’t show up on my workouts and the view/edit link goes to your site.
When it does work does it show a map and splits or does it just put in some of the basic information?
Still…love the site. Keep up the good work.

Brad Hefta-Gaub says:
@SloppyB - Can you send us a screen shot at support@sweat365.com, of what you’re seeing?
Make sure you scroll down to see if the “rides” are below the runs in the list. I’ve noticed that some of the devices sort the workouts differently. Right now we show the workouts in the order they are listed by the device… we will probably change it to sort by date, since that is more obvious, but in the mean time check down below.
When you do import it, it currently only imports the summary data. Time, distance, calories, ascent/descent, heart rate, cadence, etc… We don’t currently import maps or detailed/splits data.. although we may add that in the future.

@sloppyb - Oops… yes - the view/edit links are broken… None of our beta testers noticed that. Thanks! We’ll fix that asap!

Brad Hefta-Gaub says:
@sloppyb - the view/edits links should be working now.
August 25th, 2009 11:49 pm
Brad Hefta-Gaub says:
@sloppyb - ok, it does look like there was another problem you were running into on import… and we think we’ve fixed it now.
If anyone else tried this feature out, and imported workouts that don’t appear on their Journal/blog but do show up in their reports, let us know at support@sweat365.com and we’ll look into your account to see if we can address it.
But for everyone else, this should be working fine! Thanks for the bug report!

Yo Brad…fast work…the view/edit links are working. However, it still isn’t working correctly for me. I tried importing another workout and while it does import and link correctly it doesn’t show up in my blog roll (as far as I can see). I double checked the date of the workout and I can see the workout if I click the view/edit links on the import screen (checked the date there as well to try to find it in the blog roll)…no dice. I can send you screen shots and if you want me to send you info via e-mail or another method please let me know. I don’t want my comments to be taken as negative…I love the site.

Can I just say sweat is has done so much for my training. It is a wonderful sight. I have made friends. As soon as I am done running I think about sweat365. I say,”I have to go and check in with my friends.” I am so glad that they have added this garmin feature. This will make my time logging runs so much easier. Now I can chat more about my runs. Whoever invented the forerunner they should give a medal to because this watch has really helped me to become a better runner. It is an excellent running tool. Brad, thanks for your hard work and dedication to this community. It makes us Garmin lovers happy campers now we can just plug the watch in and go at it.
Thanks again,
Happy running,
Brooksrunner

Works great for running…doesn’t pick up anything if I had the watch set to biking mode though.
Any way to configure the app to detect biking workouts?
Thank ya!

I love this new feature! But one issue– do you know why the imported workout always gets filed under “Other”? Import discovers the correct workout “Type” such as Run or Cycle, though.
