Backbend and Hips Yoga Workshop

The backbends of yoga are some of the most dynamic and energetic asanas in the hatha yoga system. In this workshop, we will practice chest, heart & shoulder openers with the balance of grounded stability and exuberance that helps us open safely into deeper backbends. After the heat & vigor of our back bending, we will focus an hour on deep hip stretches & forward bending for calming and restoring our backs as well as helping us to perhaps work into Padmasana, or Lotus Posture. Absolutely no need to think that Lotus or the great backbend Urdva Danurasana is the goal of this workshop. It’s all about feeling better and having more energy, that’s what makes yoga so wonderful and inviting!
Please have at least 6 months of yoga experience; you will be encouraged to work at the appropriate level of your own yoga experience.

2 Part Basic/Intermediate Weekend Yoga Workshop
Jan 26th & 27th 1:30-3:45pm
Instructor: Diane Anderson.
In this fun and educational weekend workshop, we will be going over the chakras, asanas, pranayama, mantras & meditation. Both of the classes will include plenty of vinyasa flow yoga. There will be hand outs and charts to take home. This will feel like a yoga retreat in the city!!
Saturday: plenty of lower body asanas; these will include hip & groin openers, hamstrings, quads, abs, and some backbends. In this class, we will look at Chakras
1, 2, & 3.
Sunday: we will focus & concentrate more at the 4th Chakra, working up to the 7th. In this class, some different pranayama practices will be explored. The asanas will include heart, shoulder, chest openers, intermediate backbends, and some inversions. Class will end with meditation.
This workshop is open to strong beginners, preferably students that have at least 6 months of yoga experience. If you are a new student with a strong, dedicated practice, please call or email instructor for admission.

Yoga and Ayurveda
Yoga and Ayurveda:
January 12th from 2-4:30pm
Cost $40 (call to pre-register, ext 1)
Yoga and Ayurveda are considered “sister sciences”,
both coming from the wisdom of the Vedas. Once we
have determined our Ayurvedic constitution (our Dosha)
we can use this knowledge to tailor a yoga practice
that is most compatible with our needs. We will
determine our Ayurvedic constitution and from there
learn about yoga poses, breathing practices and
meditation techniques that are best suited for each
Dosha.
I am a Certified Yoga Instructor and Licensed Massage and Bodywork Practitioner. I love the way that Ayurveda is so individualized and believe this is why it can be so effective. Kids Summer Yoga Camp
This yoga camp is for kids of all ages. It mixes games, story telling and physical yoga postures.
It is offered July 16th-20th & august 6th-10th of 2007. The class is from 1pm-4pm Monday-Friday. Price is $160/week/child.

Free Community Yoga Class
NW Community Yoga is located near the Ballard, Phinney and Greenwood communities in Seattle. The center offers a very warm and welcoming atmosphere in which to study general hatha yoga.

Lake Champlain Women’s Running Camp
Event: Lake Champlain Women’s Running Camp
Created specifically for women, this camp, located at Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes, Vermont, offers participants of all levels a unique vacation of activity, education, relaxation, camaraderie, and more. Under the guidance and support of our expert staff, women of all abilities train on flat backcountry roads and soft trails, all within, or surrounding, Basin Harbor’s 700 acres.
Daily workshops will improve performance through form drills, stretching, core strengthening, water-running, track workouts, nutrition information, sports psychology, injury prevention, and more.
Participants will also have time for activities such as morning yoga, afternoon kayaking, swimming, hiking, and relaxing on the beaches of Basin Harbor Club.
