Google rarely contacts Gmail users via email, but we are making an
exception to let you know that we’ve reached a settlement in a lawsuit
regarding Google Buzz (http://buzz.google.com), a service we launched
within Gmail in February of this year.

Shortly after its launch, we heard from a number of people who were
concerned about privacy. In addition, we were sued by a group of Buzz users
and recently reached a settlement in this case.

The settlement acknowledges that we quickly changed the service to address
users’ concerns. In addition, Google has committed $8.5 million to an
independent fund, most of which will support organizations promoting
privacy education and policy on the web. We will also do more to educate
people about privacy controls specific to Buzz. The more people know about
privacy online, the better their online experience will be.

Just to be clear, this is not a settlement in which people who use Gmail
can file to receive compensation. Everyone in the U.S. who uses Gmail is
included in the settlement, unless you personally decide to opt out before
December 6, 2010. The Court will consider final approval of the agreement
on January 31, 2011. This email is a summary of the settlement, and more
detailed information and instructions approved by the court, including
instructions about how to opt out, object, or comment, are available at
http://www.BuzzClassAction.com.

The inaugural Malibu International Marathon and Half Marathon will take place Nov. 15, 2009 showcasing idyllic scenery and unlocking an exciting new challenge. The marathoners will run 26.2 miles starting near the Camarillo Airport at 7 a.m. and will end at Zuma Beach in Malibu. The Half Marathon is the last half of the marathon course.

Marathoners will enjoy a fast first half in the flat farm lands of Ventura County with views of the Santa Monica Mountains looming to the east. At mile 10, the athletes will run through the “keyway to the coast,” a rock passageway to the Pacific Ocean. The remainder of the course is along the legendary Pacific Coast Highway with breathtaking views of the great Pacific and dozens of Malibu mansions. The finish line is at the famous Zuma Beach, where athletes are welcome to run straight into the refreshing ocean.

“The course was unveiled to the public in April and the response has been incredible!” event directors said. “Runners have already tagged this course as, ‘The run to paradise!’ High profile personalities are expected to support and participate in the events.”

When the cannon called “Maranatha” fires at 7AM on the last Sunday before Labor Day, more than 2,000 athletes will embark on the long day that includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon run in Penticton, British Columbia. Since it began as an “ultra-distance” event in 1983, Ironman Canada has been a popular fixture on the triathlon “map”.

The race starts at Okanagan Lake Beach, which offers one of the widest swim starts of any Ironman race in the world … a necessary feature, considering Sunday’s race will likely have more people heading off at once than any other Ironman!

After exiting the water the riders start the bike course with a gradual climb up Penticton’s Main Street. Apart from one significant hill at about the 10-mile point (McLean Creek Road), the first 30 miles of the course are relatively flat or downhill. It is one of the most beautiful bike courses in the world - the athletes enjoy incredible views of mountains and lakes almost throughout the ride — but all that great scenery can distract the riders from the task at hand — getting through those major climbs and descents!

Like the bike course, the run course is incredibly beautiful, but it also has its challenges! Even with the thousands of athletes, spectators, and volunteers that line the course, it is the beautiful scenery along this run course that stands out. The wonderful views provide a welcome distraction to the pain of the race!

The race begins at Wheeler Park just west of Downtown Flagstaff. On April 19, 1995,

a great wrong was done in Oklahoma City. However, on this day in April the forces of fear and hate were beaten by love and compassion.

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is a race that is not about running—it is about life.

168 banners line the marathon course, one for each victim. Those banners serve to remind us as we run that we have been given the gift of life and that it is too precious to waste.

This is what the Memorial Marathon is about: realizing the preciousness of time, valuing one another, taking life as it comes and making something magic from it. Celebrating Life.

You don’t have to be a runner to participate in the Memorial Marathon. All you have to do is change the world you live in one moment, one opportunity, one person at a time. It is not about running—it is about living.

Backbends & Hips
Saturday, December 8th 2-4:15pm
$35 pre-register
Instructor: Diane Anderson

The backbends of yoga are some of the most dynamic and energetic asanas in the hatha yoga system. In this workshop, we will practice chest, heart & shoulder openers with the balance of grounded stability and exuberance that helps us open safely into deeper backbends. After the heat & vigor of our back bending, we will focus an hour on deep hip stretches & forward bending for calming and restoring our backs as well as helping us to perhaps work into Padmasana, or Lotus Posture. Absolutely no need to think that Lotus or the great backbend Urdva Danurasana is the goal of this workshop. It’s all about feeling better and having more energy, that’s what makes yoga so wonderful and inviting!

Please have at least 6 months of yoga experience; you will be encouraged to work at the appropriate level of your own yoga experience.
For any questions about this workshop, email Diane directly at diane@nwcommyoga.com

The California International Marathon (CIM) is a 26-mile, 385-yard, point-to-point, USATF certified road race. The fast, net-downhill course follows an historic gold-miners’ route: it begins at the Folsom Dam, passes through semi-rural Sacramento suburbs into bustling midtown Sacramento, and has a thrilling finish in front of the spectacular California State Capitol. The field of 9,000+ runners receive outstanding support from 2,000+ experienced volunteers. They also enjoy mile-by-mile course entertainment, the cheers of thousands of spectators, and the beautiful fall colors of Sacramento’s famous old growth trees. The fast course attracts not only runners seeking a personal best time, a Boston Marathon qualifying time, an Olympic Marathon Trials qualifying time (USATF Course Certification #CA07004RS), but also those hoping to achieve their first marathon finish. In addition, top athletes from all over the world compete for a share of the $50,000 prize money purse and for re!
History and Accolades:For many years the Portland Marathon has been rated as one of the premier marathon events in the United States. It has been ranked as one of the top 10 local road race events in the U.S, and one of the top 40 races of all types and distances.

Runner’s World has called the Portland Marathon “the best people’s marathon in the West” and for the past ten years has ranked it as one of the top 10 or 15 marathons in the country. Runner’s World also states that “perhaps more than any other running event in the country, this race keeps evolving, keeps getting better”. Runner’s World has chosen the Portland Marathon as the “Race of the Month” and said the event is one of the “friendliest, best organized, most family-oriented races in the country.”

This is a totally unique trail triathlon, like none other before that I know of. Why? Because it’s REPEATED!

That’s right…you’ll begin with a 2.5 mile trail run, follow with a 1.5 mile mountain bike trail ride, and continue with a 75 yard lake swim, out and back, totalling 150 yards of swimming. Then the tough part begins…dry off your feet, put your trail running shoes back on, and begin the entire loop (run, bike, swim) AGAIN!

12 different walnut and bronze awards go to both male and female athletes who complete the fastest loops (run, bike, swim), complete the most loops, get the bloodiest, youngest finisher, oldest finisher, etc. There is NO AGE GROUP recognition with prizes, except for the youngest and oldest finisher of at least one successful “loop”.

PLUS this is the first annual, so numbers will be very low, so come to win SOMETHING!

Door prizes, food, beverage, and good times if you choose to compete as a team. That’s right, you may compete as an individual, or as a team. You may organize your team any way you wish…2-person, 3-person, take turns with each leg, don’t take turns…it’s totally up to you!

Pre-register by July 5 to Mark. E’mail Mark at buzzard52@hotmail.com to receive a downloadable triflyer with flyer and application form.

Proceeds benefit my church’s mission trip fund, so you beat yourself up for the benefit of others. I hope to see you in July!

God Bless,
