bump for my favorite fitness gadget. have used a reconditioned garmin 301 just about every day for over a year now. previously used various polar brand watches/hrms (3 different models of polars on reflection). these older garmin models are better than the newer models because they run SO MUCH LONGER on a charge. If you read the garmin forums you'll see lots of people unhappy with their newer garmin 305s for various reasons, not least of which is short battery life. this is a good one!! - OP, maybe post purchase date so your buyer can know warranty info.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 201 for sale $99 (plus exact s/h)

I used it about 5 times, but realized I don't run where I need to know the exact distance. It is basically brand new! I have the original box, papers, all cords, charger, etc... to go with it. It works really well, holds a very long battery charge and hasn't been used much. It grabs a satellite reading quickly and your ready to go run!

Please let me know if interested, I do have a paypal account and can ship however you'd like it to get there. You'd pay only for exact shipping costs.

I'm also using the 305, but haven't bothered installing the software yet. Would be great if sweat365 had support for that.

thanks guys for responding. sorry brad, I thought that I'd read that the Garmin downloads were already supported? I must have not read what I thought, plus I know that you use your Garmins a lot....

It is a fun new toy though! thanks as always.

Jeades, thanks for pointing out the link to ascent... that looks like a great piece of software for the mac.

We are working toward adding Garmin upload support soon. At the risk of getting into the technical details... we've been working this week on cleaning up some of our backend infrastructure that will allow us to more easily support import of Garmin and other external training logs.

Our current plan is to support import of Garmin history files, and also integrate with the Garmin browser plugin which would allow direct upload of activities directly from your device. However, I think Garmin only supports this plugin on Windows at this point. :( We'll let you know more when we are closer.

i'm still learning myself, just got mine a little after christmas...

i actually skipped over the garmin software itself and downloaded "ascent" from monetebello software http://www.montebellosoftware.com/ (yes, i am on a mac) they have a free trial if you don't want to pay up front. But i connect, hit command-L and my workout's immediately uploaded. if you google search you should be able to find 2-4 other pieces of software also available that mostly seem to have slightly better features than the garmin software.

I'm still plugging for sweat365 to get compatibility... would save me time and i could upload all my workouts.

Bernie,

You can export your blog at any time by going to Manage>Export. This will export your blog posts. We have not yet added export of training data, but we absolutley will do so at some point in the near future.

We believe the data should be free to live where ever it wants to, but we hope you want it to live here. :)

As for our plans to commercialize this product. We absolutely plan to; and one product we will probably offer is a more advanced consumer product that may require a subscription fee (much like Training Peaks).

For sure device import is a must for me to replace my TrainingPeaks log. For me Polar would be the number one priority. That would be followed by PowerTap and then Garmin or .GPX (.GPX being more universal).

My other question is what about retrieving data? To be honest I'm leary of wonderful idea will end up. There must be some commercial plan and I certainly am not opposed to paying a subscription fee (like I do for TrainingPeaks) but I also want to know I can download my content at any time if I decide to leave or, dare I say it, this site should disappear.

Device import is on our list. We're trying to figure out which ones to attack first. Garmin's are likely to be high on the list since we have a couple people on the team that use them.

Scott, I'd love to see a function where we could import logs from our training devices directly to the site. I'm using a Suunto T6 and would love to import my logs as well. I think the Konaomoxt team is looking to work on these features but one thing at a time :-)

I wonder if somebody in the community can hack up a widget and get over to the team? I'm not the guy for sure but somebody has got to be able to do that!
