I really like Garmin products. The new Garmin Forerunner 310XT is solid, with a 20 hour battery life. It works great on the trail runs I do.

I’m almost at the point again where I want to find some accurate electronic device for measuring distance in deep timber cover. All my mileage is estimated guess from back when i did a little measuring with Nike plus and a pedometer on my usual trails. GPS on my iphone can’t work in most of the places I run - wondering if Garmin or any of the others have a strong enough receiver to get a signal in old growth??? Even though I killed my first one in less than 6 mos, I’m contemplating the Nike plus system again since it can plug into my phone and doesn’t rely on GPS. Also wonder if there’s a nice low tech pedometer out there that’s relatively accurate (within .25 mile would be nice)???? Anyone have any ideas?

with vimeo, you need to strip the www out of the URL. So to display the film from http://www.vimeo.com/4725583, you'd type

Also, you can use viddler if you use the "wordpress.com" style of embedding... which has a format similar to this:

[viddler id=6601beba&w=437&h=288]

Update on this for non-US users.

Youtube now uses country-specific subdomains for some user accounts. For the UK, this is http://UK.youtube.com. So when you get your video's URL, it might be in this format:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=z4HltoPi0P0

To get this to display on sweat365.com, you need to delete the "uk." from the address. So to display the video for the above example, you'd enter

[youtube="http://youtube.com/watch?v=z4HltoPi0P0"]

in the body of your post.

I also really like http://www.usatf.org/routes/
if I am trying a new route and I want to make sure I don't miss any turns and end up doing less distance I print the route I make, cut it and 'laminate' it with packaging tape. I really like this because I have these printed for different distances and I can just select the one I want for that run and throw it in my pocket. It has been very helpful on unfamiliar streets.

I found out a way to calculate the distance your last run was using g-maps. This is for people whom don't have GPS watches or any other means to map out routes to take or want to figure out just how far that 32 minute run was. Just go to http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ and find your house using the "hybrid" part of the map (the regular map won't show small streets or trails). Then when you find your starting point, press start on the left hand side and begin placing "way points" along the route you ran by double clicking. The toolbar on the left keeps track of your distance and has other features as well. I'm excited! Just wanted to share my excitement.
