> check out the sporttracks project on sourceforge

One thing that's really strong with the way this site was developed is the support for outside widgets and import of data. There's always going to be more "to do" than is possible so I'd hope this trend receives the emphasis moving forward rather than reinventing (and debugging) the wheel.

Ryan, thanks for the feedback this is good stuff.

We are working on some improvements to our reports... and these are some great suggestions. Trending is a good idea, and makes sense to add.

Dave, I will also check out sporttracks, it sounds interesting.

+1 for more charts. but brad, u know what I think about that already.

ryan, check out the sporttracks project on sourceforge. I'm starting to use that to track workouts concurrently with this site. They have a lot of plugins that you can use to chart trends, etc.

The current reports are somewhat limited. Its nice that there's a breakdown of the time/distance spent in different activities, but for the part, I just run. So, the pie chart is just about useless for me since it will always be 100% run.

Regardless, i think it would be interesting to have a chart widget that shows time or distance per week for the last 4 weeks, perhaps showing the progress made on the current week.

To me, its a seems like good motivator to see that I'm maintaining the time commitment, and my mileage is going up.

Also, as a fan of the Hacker Diet, I've found that the individual measurements of things daily don't really matter much, but rather the trends do. Calculating the trend is very very easy (.9 * yesterdays trend value + .1 * today's value). This smooths out the day to day variation that is going to happen in things like daily weight measurements or the amount of sleep you got.

Please consider adding a trend average to the daily numbers and allowing them to be plotted on the graphs. I've been using Physics Diet to track my calories eaten/burned and weight... and really like the simple charts they produce. The trendline is a very good indicator of your progress towards your goals, and allows for little bumps in the road to not discourage you too much.

Thanks for the time, things seem great so far..

Yes, please implement the ability to select and delete multiple posts at the same time. I promise to be more careful. I thought I was after spending two and a half hours cleaning up last time one post at a time. Another thing that might be easy and even more useful is replace the "Have Fun" message with an "OK / Cancel" box to click after the imported records are displayed. Once you see what Sweat365 is going to do with the imported data would be the best time proceed or bail out. That would give me a lot more confidence in importing a large block of data. Even going one month at a time represents 50-60 log book entries and I've got over three years of data to import.

Ok Bernie, I think I got you covered. We have a bulk delete function that allows us to select several posts and delete them all at once. I was able to use that feature... and it just took 30 minutes of checking boxes. ;)

I deleted all your imported posts with no title or text.

I guess we should give you guys access to that feature. :)

Import HELL. Last week I tried importing a small block of records and because of the construction of my spreadsheet for pre-processing the Training Peaks data ended up with about a thousand blank workouts being imported. It took hours to delete all these because there's no facility to check and delete a large number at once.

I thought I'd fixed the spreadsheet but failed to double check the .CSV file it output and now I've got the same problem. Brad, can you go in and delete these blank records for me? It would be really great and probably help out a lot of people in the future if records with no date or only blank data were ignored. Harder to code but more generally useful would be some block editing features. Delete would be number one but a way to change things like workout type would be nice too and have value beyond just importing records.

Thanks,
-Bernie

I'm not a triathlete (certainly no Ironman ;-) but what I would like is to be able to "combine" workouts as one blog entry just for the sake of readability and perhaps to comment on how outside influences affected a workout. For example how running might affect weights or vice versa. Sometimes in would be nice to be able to split phases of a workout, like the warmup from the actual race but still present the overview of the whole thing.

Whatever they implement I sure hope that it will include a tool that will allow previously entered data to be manipulated. That would be key to importing a training log. Anyway, once they get done with this they'll be free to implement other cool stuff like importing of Polar HRM data, right ;-)

Well, our graphics team has delivered our cool new design, but now we need to integrate it. I would like to give you a better estimate, but for now I'll say, I am sure it will be less time between now and when it's available then between when Christine first asked for it, and now. :)

I guess the thing is that although you hard core Ironman triathletes do lots of bricks, most of our members are happy to exercise once a day. :)
