Like TJE210 says....expensive tyres are worth their weight in gold !!!

I've had Panaracer Extreme Duro's on for the last 2000miles without a single flat !!!!

I tried Slime on my last set of tyres and got fed up with the valve glueing shut.

I had this problem not to long ago. I found that I was not inflating my tires enough so when I hit a bump or pot hole I would get a pinch in my tube, it also ruined my tire. when I closely examend my tire there were tiny cuts in my tires so if Inflated them to much they would just blow out. I bought some new tires that had a strong side wall and got a thorn resistant tube for the back and made sure that the tires are inflated properly that has helped me a lot.
you can buy rode tubes with slim in them I have heard good and bad things about them so you might have to try for your self but I think the thorn resistant tubs work good.

I mistakenly bought a hand pump with no guage on it so I have to buy a better one. Does "Slime" work with road tires? What kind of tires/tubes do you have/suggest? I will look into the CO2, tire levers, and extra tube. Thanks for the info. Dustin

run your tires at proper pressure. i do mine at about 120 psi. have good, expensive tires - don't waste money on cheap ones. i've been running on the same tires for 2000+ miles, no flats. i think that keeping the tires clean helps too.

during a race, i'd carry a spare tube with you, a CO2 cartridge and the CO2 adapter. plus some tire levers. on training rides, i don't use CO2, i just have a high-pressure hand pump. replacing tubes sucks during a race, but it's gotta be done. just remember: slow is smooth, smooth is fast. don't panic, take your time.

I got a new bike about a month or so ago and the first night it got a flat in the front. The company fixed it for free. SUPER! Now 90+ miles later the rear tire went flat after 1.5 miles into my ride. This got me thinking and now I am wondering what are some things I can do to prevent getting a flat? Also, what does everyone do when they get a flat in a race or when they are far from their house? What type of gear should I carry with me? Thank in advance for the help. Dustin.
