  1. I am wondering if there is an easy way to import data from another training log. The other program exports into an XML doc. My guess is this cannot be done but I thought I would ask.

    Thanks,

  2. Colleen,

We currently support import from WordPress.com or standalone WordPress blogs. We will be rolling out Blogger import support shortly.

We also plan to support device integration with Garmin and Polar products in the future.

What specific logbook application are you using? Please let us know and we'll consider it for addition to our product road map.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  3. Brad. Is there any chance that excel files can be converted into a useable csv file? Excel is the only export option I have with all my training log data :-(

  4. Brad. I found out how to do this and imported my logs back to '03. The issue is that when importing, I'm forced to have a field map to total time, but I have fields for hour, minute and second... but nothing for total time.

  5. I'm currently working on importing about four years worth of data from my Training Peaks log. The drill goes something like this:

Export the Training Peaks data as a CSV file

Read the CSV file into the spreadsheet of your choice (OpenOffice)

Clean-up any text fields that have quotes (") so that this can be used as a text deliminator. If custom text deliminator could be used this would make life easier. Pick something odd like %%.

Then the fun part. Combine fields that you want to map to a single field in Sweat365. For example I concatenate several separate fields to be my Post Content. In the example garyd mentioned above you'd create a fomula to add the times in a new column for Total Time.

I then save as a new CSV file which I edit down to a small chuck to import. This is so that if anything goes wrong I only have to delete or fix a small number of entries rather than literally thousands.

    My wish list:

Someday I'd like to have the ability to go back and augment the training log with new data via the import process. For example I have heartrate time in zones I'd like to import but currently that's not a field in Sweat365. Bike/shoes used would be another.

I'd really like to see the import capability extended to the daily record.

Allow import of Average Speed rather than making this strictly a calculated field. I care more about moving average than dist/time since stopped time can really throw off an average.

  6. Bernie,

Thanks for giving the details of your process!

That will be a big help to other users.

  7. Import HELL. Last week I tried importing a small block of records and because of the construction of my spreadsheet for pre-processing the Training Peaks data ended up with about a thousand blank workouts being imported. It took hours to delete all these because there's no facility to check and delete a large number at once.

I thought I'd fixed the spreadsheet but failed to double check the .CSV file it output and now I've got the same problem. Brad, can you go in and delete these blank records for me? It would be really great and probably help out a lot of people in the future if records with no date or only blank data were ignored. Harder to code but more generally useful would be some block editing features. Delete would be number one but a way to change things like workout type would be nice too and have value beyond just importing records.

    Thanks,
    -Bernie

  8. I can easily delete all imported records (that came from your import process) is that what you want? Or do you just want me to delete some of them?

  9. Ok Bernie, I think I got you covered. We have a bulk delete function that allows us to select several posts and delete them all at once. I was able to use that feature... and it just took 30 minutes of checking boxes. ;)

I deleted all your imported posts with no title or text.

I guess we should give you guys access to that feature. :)

  10. Yes, please implement the ability to select and delete multiple posts at the same time. I promise to be more careful. I thought I was after spending two and a half hours cleaning up last time one post at a time. Another thing that might be easy and even more useful is replace the "Have Fun" message with an "OK / Cancel" box to click after the imported records are displayed. Once you see what Sweat365 is going to do with the imported data would be the best time proceed or bail out. That would give me a lot more confidence in importing a large block of data. Even going one month at a time represents 50-60 log book entries and I've got over three years of data to import.

  11. Yes... we agree, the import process can be improved. This is a good suggestion. Thanks.
