  1. As the rain starts to settle in here in the NW, I'm curious if most folks are heading for the treadmill or if you suite up in polar fleece and Gortex and keep hitting the road.

What does full training kit look like for you?

  2. Hi Jeff - I keep hitting the road. Some of my best runs have been in the rain.

  3. I ran in the rain today... I wore a long sleeve technical running shirt (lighter weight than a long sleeve cycling shirt) and tri-shorts (this is what I always wear to run)... and a technical running hat (head sweats brand).

Basically... when I run, I get wet from sweat... so the rain doesn't really change things for me. I wear the same outfit I would normally.

I find that if I bundle up too much... I get too hot and too sweaty and then I get cold... I ran the Seattle Marathon last year in a similar outfit, although I had a wool stocking cap... and lightweight gloves... It was snowing at the start of the race, and I got too hot!

  4. I ran in the rain yesterday in running tights, long sleeve technical shirt and my Heli Hansen running jacket. Oh, I also wore a hat. I stayed comfortable. The hard part is starting in the rain!

  5. As for my specific attire - Yesterday in the rain I wore running tights, a long sleeve technical running shirt, a mid weight vest, and a hat.

Sometimes I will wear a wind breaker/rain coat however I ususally get too hot and find it is too cumbersome.

Depending on the temp, I someitmes weat gloves. Most times I end up taking them off mid run.

  6. I think I need to move on from the cotton t-shirts I'm running in. Once they're wet, they stay wet, and they're just flopping all over the place.

Can anyone recommend a brand of shirt they run in that they like? I buy shirts specifically for riding my horse, but they're not designed for lots of motion, they're heavier, and most of them have a collar.

What shirt brands do you wear? And are any of you, *ahem* "well-endowed"? I need to make sure there is room for the girls. ;-)

  7. Swing by your local running store (like Super Jock N Jill, or whatever)... ask them to show you their selection of "technical" running shirts. You'll be amazed the difference.

  8. That's a great idea, but I don't really have a local running store. (A sacrifice of living in an area where you have to wait for Elk to vacate your parking space.)

    :-)

I do most of my specialty purchases on-line, so any nudge in a direction would be great.

  9. Go check the outlet stores in North Bend. They have Nike and Addidas out there. They'll probably have something.
