  1. When I used to 'Sign in' I would enter my info and then login. It used to take me directly to my dashboard... now it takes me to the homepage with all the latest messages, etc...

I don't like this. I'd rather go to my dashboard when I finish logging in, than have to click to sign in, then click again to get to my dashboard. I can always go to the homepage later or read the latest posts when I want to. I don't like being kind of forced to look there first.

    Thanks.

  2. Kate,

Thanks for the note. We did make this change recently. Sorry you don't like it. We're trying to improve the work flow and after analyzing the traffic of what people were doing we saw lots of people logging in and then going to the home page, so we want to make it easier for that use case.

I guess the question is, can you tell us more about your standard workflow... what do you do first, second etc... what are the tasks you want to complete?

    Login -> then Write a Blog Post -> then ??? -> then ???

    Or is it...

Login -> then comment on a blog -> then write a blog post -> then ???

    Or is it...

Login -> Check your stats -> write a post -> etc...

Thanks for giving us feedback and helping us improve the product.

  3. Not hijacking the thread... but I just happy that Brad is now identified as "zappoman" it makes me feel a little better...

My personal workflow has always been loging, go to home page (which meant clicking over), go to forums, check the latest discussions (how I found this) and then head to dashboard.

I like reading others stuff, I guess.

  4. Well, the fact that I'm showing up as zappoman is yet a totally different bug. :) I gotta fix that!

    Kate, one more comment/question...

One reason that we made this change was that we thought that almost everything that you can get to from your dashboard page (via 1 click), is actually on the home page (via 1 click), AND the home page tends to be faster than the dashboard page.

So, it will help us if we knew what your workflow was so we can make it fast for you. That was our goal.

  6. Hi Brad, sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. I basically go into my dashboard, check my stats, check for unmoderated comments first, then write a workout or a post. If I have time, then I head back to the homepage or forums, but that's not my first thought.

I guess I could get used to using the dashboard feature to the right now, but I usually checked first for the unmoderated comments, since I don't have those set to send an email (and don't want them to be - I know how to do that if wanted).

Also, maybe you could add something to the top dashboard section... I find myself looking at my blog or another's, but then I have to click dashboard then to posting. Maybe if you added to the top - ad d post on the green bar I can click that once and go right there? I found that would be useful than clicking back to my dashboard and then posting.

    Thanks.

  7. Kate, thanks for the very specific feedback. Sorry the changes we made most directly effect your use case. We'll look into solutions to make it work better for you. I like the idea of moving more "power" and functionality into the menu bar and orange box... So we'll keep your use case in mind when we do that.
