My wife and I like to listen to Linkin Park, Red, Disciple, and Pillar. Pretty much your heavier songs will get you a good rhythm too run to.

Music taste ranges widely, but I tend to go with the electric/trence DJ mix type of music.
My "running" playlist on ipod consist of some of those music as well as the alternative rock that has strong beat. When the music is right and you marry it with your steps in rhythm, it's a beautiful thing!! :)Of course, don't forget to have some beautiful slow jams for cool down and stretching.

When I need to catch my second wind I tune into "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith, "Lets Get It Up" by AC/DC, or "Turn the Page" Bob Seger.

If you're an iTunes fan then checkout the podcasts. There are several good workout podcasts; one of my personal favorites is Podrunner because it has mixes already set to several beats per minute. I have heard that one doesn't need an iPod to download podcasts.
Anything with a good beat and, or gets your emotions going will work according to your particular music genres.

Music is crucial for me...I can't run without it!
Right now my favorite running songs are:
Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse
Supermassive Black Holes, also by Muse (I like all of their music, but I think they have some great faster paced songs that are great for running)
Remember the Name by Fort MinorAlso, if you like house/techno, try
Rise Up by Yves Larock
Love is Gone by David Guetta and Chris Wills
And, always a classic, Kernkraft 400 by Zombie NationEnjoy :)

I enjoy AFI, The Used, Anberlin and anything else with a strong beat. I find that I listen to a different kind of music when I run than when I just want to listen to music.

I love all kinds of music, but Daft Punk really gets me going when I am running! Even when I might think of slowing down a bit....it has really an upbeat edge that pushes you through!!!!
Love it!Posted 6 months ago # -
Black Eyed Peas are great for running... (in my humble opinion)

The primary thing I run to is covers of songs done by pop-punk bands. Not only is it good for a quick pace, it's hard not to keep a smile on your face because the music is kind of silly.

Sunday I put in AC/DC Live at Donington dvd cranked the volume and did five miles on the treadmill. It was awesome. The time went by fast, and I just imagined I was dancing at the concert instead of running.

The Rocky Soundtrack is a great one - you just picture him running up those stairs...that'll get you going.

It's been my experience that any music that makes you want to drive fast will work.

I just found a great group. I'd list them under Christian Rock. Look up BarlowGirl. MillionVoices is a great running song. Not sure where they got the name BarlowGirl, but they have great songs for running or any exercise for that matter.

My wife LOVES Barlow Girl. I think they are pretty good too.
When I run, I listen to talk radio/pod casts, business speakers, books or nothing at all. When I stretch I listen to music that "pumps me up" and gets me ready. I love instrumental music from movies like The Last Samurai. It is perfect for stretching. Then I like some electronic stuff that starts slow and gets me going.
I used to listen to Podrunner while I run (1 hour of free running music every week!). I LOVE that podcasts!
This is only because I'm training for a marathon and I'm afraid of becoming dependent on the music, so I try to listen to things that make me think or I just listen to the rhythm of my breathing and try to get lost in thought.
Anyone else concerned about the dependence on music? I'm training for my first one and I want my training to mimic the race as much as possible. Personal pref.

I suggest the Transformers Soundtrack! It is very good running music because most of the songs stay at a good tempo and they are longer.
