best tri bikini top for large bust???

(6 posts)

  1. Hi all- here's my dilemma... i am a 34DD in the bust, and am looking for that "perfect" tri top/bikini top that i can wear from the pool to running, but that has decent support...

    any suggestions?

    oh, and p.s. i am a beginner....

ETA: basically i'm looking for the next best thing to duct tape! LOL!

  2. can't speak from experience (36aa) but have you tried title 9 sports or athleta? you can check them out online. they have a very good bra selection that organizes them by support capabilities. i think title 9 even uses a code in number of dumbbells to indicate level of support. so 1 dumbbell is not much but 4 is designed for the well endowed.

  4. I will admit to having no experience on this question, but I suspect there are some folks in your local community who would have experience in this... Namely, your local triathlon retailer.

My sense is that a you may want to just go ahead and wear your sports bra during the race. I don't know how quickly it would dry, but hopefully it would dry quickly enough that you wouldn't notice it.

Another alternative is to simply put on your favorite sports bra after the swim in the changing tent between the swim and bike (T1)... Many triathlons will offer changing tents for just this reason.

    Good luck!

  5. I have been hoping that you would get an answer to many of us larger breasted women's needs. Unfortunately, I have not found the perfect tri bra/top. I have tried on many over the past year and none of them give any support. I've been told many times from tri apparel stores to order on-line but I refuse to buy a bra for $60+ that I can not try on. The best sports bra I have found is Champion's Double Dry style #6209 which comes in a 34-36 D/DD (I buy mine at Kohl's). Looking on line at the athleta and the title nine... the models have little or no breast size which gives me the impression that these probably aren't very supportive. If you find the "perfect" tri bra/top please don't keep it a secret :) Many of us are searching too!

  6. First, a disclaimer, I work at Title Nine, but I do have the answer for you. Our bra buyer is a 36DD and does triathalons. Her last sprint triathalon, she used our Three Reasons bra, http://www.titlenine.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=2155&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=734&iSubCat=738&iProductID=2155 It has plenty of support and dries quickly after the swim. She wore it under her Zoot tri suit. Now she's considering buying a Zoot men's tri suit so as to completely avoid the useless built-in bra in the women's version. Also you can try any of our bras and return them if they don't work. Good luck.

    PS
Good point on our bra models, most do look small-busted. Bummer, since they are all either C, D or DDs.
