Sprint Tri clothes for women

  1. Hello all. This is my first post. I am doing my first sprint trithlon in about two months. I have lots of workout clothes for biking, running, aerobics, weights, etc., but HAVE NO IDEA what to wear for this upcoming sprint tri! I have read all the other posts and love the idea of wearing one garment (tri suit) the whole time, as Brad suggests. Does that work for women? Seems like I have seen two piece bathing suits marketed for triathlons and also seem to remember seeing women in two piece bathing suits on bikes in tri pictures. Any advice would help. Thanks! Charlotte

  2. hey there,
To be honest the tri suit is the way to go, because it makes the transition part so much easier for you. all you need to do is put on some socks (I like the nike drifit) and u are ready to rock (helmet and sun glasses and of course the shoes) and you don't have to stress out about anything else but race. if you can afford the tri suit my advice is; go and get it.

    Good luck.

  3. I have seen men in triathlons and the tri suit seems to be the best bet, if it is too expensive have the manufacturer be your sponsor. A free suit for you and free advertising for them.

  4. tri suits come in one and two-piece options. tight fit is best to prevent drag. one consideration in deciding between one or two piece is how much you have to disrobe to go to the bathroom - pre-race jitters and post-race "expulsion" are a real phenomenon and in most races you will be peeling off your suit in a port-a-potty - just something to consider! one piece has less potential for drag but is easy to get in and out of in a flash.

it's really personal preference but either way it's best to get your race gear and practice in it!

  5. I find that a two piece suit is best for "bio breaks"... as I find the men's one piece suits to be cumbersome to get in and out of... After all, they are designed to be snug in the fit, and so that means they can be a challenge to put on if you're in a hurry.

Because of this, I only where a one piece when I don't expect to need a bio break during the race. For long distance races, I wear a two piece.

  6. i just bought this and i love it... i wear it under a t-back tank w/ a shelf bra in it, and the combined support is enough for running... the suit really does quick dry, and there is a nice padding in the crotch... i like the two piece because i like the feeling of freedom of movement...
