First Cycle with new bike

(3 posts)

  1. Today I completed my first cycle with my new bike. The only problem I had was my hands kept falling asleep and my butt hurt becuase the seat is hard as a rock. I ordered some Zoot Tri shorts with a 6" seam (no clue what this means) but am unsure of what to do about the hands falling asleep. I wear fingerless padded gloves as well. Any suggestions?

  2. It could be that you're resting too much of your body weight on your hands... Really you should be using your core to hold your body up, and your hands on your handlebars should be for balance only...

So try being more deliberate about keeping your hands light, strengthening your core and using your whole body to power your bike.

Haven't you ever wondered why pro-cyclists have ripped abs?

  3. I just figured that they were fit from cycling millions of miles. Using my "core" to hold my body up makes sense though. I will work on that tomorrow morning for my swim-cycle-run. Thanks.
