Section 3.4 i "Unauthorized Accessories - no participant shall, at any time during the event, use or wear a hard cast, headset, radio, personal audio device, or any other item deemed dangerour by the head referee.
Section 3.4 k "Unauthorized Equipment - No participant shall use any equipment which the head Referee determins to be improper, including but not limited to equipmentwhich might provide an unfair advantage or endanger other participants. Unless otherwise provided for in these Rules, any violation of this Section shall result in a variable time penatly"I guess what I am saying is Check with your Head Referee!

and the reason I say check with the head ref is because of this:
"or any other item deemed dangerous"and
"including but not limited to equipment which might provide an unfair advantage or endanger other participants"
Those to me are not specific enough. They could mean just about anything.

yeah, no kidding... just trying to figure out if i need to trick out the bike with bottles before sunday....
it says you can carry water bottles, so i can't imagine that the camelback is any different? not to mention i've seen photos of runners in races with at the very least the belts...

so, if you want to be "safe", adding water bottles to a bike is REAL easy. The cages are about $4 a piece at a bike shop, you can usually convince them to A-Install them for you and B-Spiff you thier cycle shop bottle. (If not, their usually just a couple $).
Second, for the run, get an "hydration belt". Just like you mention, and belt with H2O Bottles on it, again, minimal cost.Otherwise, I'd wait for Brad and any other experienced Tri folks around here to respond.
Go get 'em Faye!
(remember, deep breathes, you'll do GREAT!)

I don't think any referee would consider a camel back to illegal. I see them often in many races.
