Aerobar suggestions for a newbie

  1. I have been casually looking at various Aerobars and have found the price range quite large ($43 - $300). I also have noticed that some are in addition to the "ram style" handle bars and some replace them. Which is better? Lastly, I noticed that a lot of them have switches on the front. Are these brakes? Gear changers? Just to look cool =-]? Thanks in advance for the help. Dustin.
