What are Custom Fields under Page Edits

  1. If you create or edit a "Page" at the bottom there is something called "Custom Fields" with a few choices in the pull-down and the choice of entering something else. What is this and how is it used? I can't find any reference in the documentation and not being a WP guru wasn't able to get it to do anything (noticeable) at all.

  2. That would be a bug... those should be hidden. They are not at all useful. The bug is that they are visible at all.

    Ping me off line if you want more detail... (I know you are a curious fellow, and so I'd gladly share more in the weeds details if you really want to know.)
