Where to begin...

  1. I signed up for a half marathon on Thanksgiving Day!!! I'm really excited. There's just one problem. I've only ever walk/ran (mostly walked) a 5k!! I'm excited to see what I can do in 4 months! There's no pressure to run the whole thing but it sure would be nice! I'm starting with the 5k program because I'm just getting into running. Good place to start right? Any tips?

  2. You can do it, think of a half marathon as 20 K, 4 5 Ks, or just a little bit less.

  3. This sounds like a job for Lisa Sabin - I would ask her (check out the top of the home page). She has just started a training program or check out the library for training schedules. Welcome.

  4. Check out the training programs in the Library. There are three for a Half based on your present running experience!

  5. Awesome!! I too just signed up for my first Half..and I've never even done a 5k! I just started running in Feb..and my Half is Dec 14th. I just started the "Ultimate Half Marathon Training Program" I got from the Runner's World Web site under "training". It looks pretty good since it had three levels (beginner to advanced)

so good luck to you!! I know you can do it!!

    We both can!!

    hugs!

  6. I'm super excited to find others out there working towards their goals! I'm hoping to run my second half marathon in November! Hopefully my husband can be motivated to join me! We ran our first half last year in October but since then we've both gained about 20 pounds and gotten a little out of shape!
I've named my new fat roll - I've never had one my whole life across my stomach till this past year! I'm almost thirty but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it or not! I look at down and see this roll hanging over my pants when I'm sitting down at my desk and I'm amazed at it! I squeeze and pat it! Just staring at it in amazement! Where did this thing come from??

I think we were so proud of our accomplishment we thought we deserved a year break! :) Who were we kidding - we look back at pictures of us at this time last year and sigh! We can't believe we let ourselves go!! Not only did we look better but we felt GREAT too! So here we go getting ready for our next race and hoping to keep it up.... even after we cross the finish line! :)

I found this site looking for Oklahoma Marathons and I think I'm really going to like it!
Good Luck to all those who will be super fit before Turkey Day!!
    I'm ready to get started!!
I guess I better start running again... huh!? :)
    Happy Running! :)

  7. My first half is in less than a month. If you get a trainng plan you like and keep to it, you can do it. I am continually amazed at the progress I've made. I too have only ever ran a 5K and that was two years ago. Go for it! you can do it!

  9. It is so exciting to see so many others where I am. I'm training for a half marathon in October. I completed my first 5k in June! I have a long way to go but am looking forward to the challenge! Best of luck to all and I will look to you all for motivation!
