  1. I will be running my first marathon in October of 2009. I need suggestions and advise on how to begin. Mileage, speed, endurance, etc. All suggestions are welcomed.

  2. Have you run a half marathon yet? What distance are you currently running and what speed?

  3. Actually, I just read what is posted on your site. I have run 5k's and just decided to run a half in October. There is a nice training schedule on this site that provides for a 12 week training period. My advice is to start there -- that will get you to 13 miles and then turn up the training for a full. Today was my first 6 mile run -- went well, wore me out. I wonder where the stamina for more will come from but I'm sure it will be there when I need it -- at least that is what I am hearing! Best of luck and keep us posted on how it is going.

  4. I will be running my first marathon in November. So I can relate to you. I starting running half marathons when I was a freshman in high school...and I ran in college. My advice to you is to take it slow. Don't push your body too hard just yet. Make sure you eat the right types of food. Try to cut out the fried foods and carbonation. It's also important to have rest time. Your rest should be just as important as your running.
