  1. I signed up for a 10k mountain run, on Saturday the 16th. All training was going well until around July 17 when I hurt my lower back. Since then training has been hit and miss. I'm worried that I've bitten off more than I can chew. I feel that I've lost what little conditioning I was gaining. I ran 8 miles last Sunday it took me an hour and a half. This week I was only able to run 9 miles total. I don't know what to do this week coming up. I guess whats done is done. I know I'll finish the race eventually. I was just hoping for an improvement on my pace from my last race time. Oh well there's always September right?

  2. You will do fine, I ran my first 10K in June, Irongirl, and I did as well as I expected. Do you have a specific time when you run each day; because if so 3, or 4 miles each day will add up.

  3. the first concern is: are you recovered? what was the reason that you only hit 9 miles total last week? assuming that you're in 10K shape, you should be able to hit 3 miles/day ( = 21 mile week).

don't worry about your pace. it's a mountain run, so enjoy the scenery and bask in the lactic acid that builds up in your muscles on those climbs.
