  1. Can anyone recommend good running shoes for wide feet? I am a woman that wears an 8 1/2. Last time I went to a specialty running shop and the guy fitted me in some Mens Asic 2130. They worked okay...but, actually had a little more movement in my foot then I am used to. They are wore out now (after 6 months) and I am needing to buy some new shoes quickly - as my knees are beginning to holler at me!
Thanks for any input out there. Also, I have a good arch and don't pronate that much.

  2. Hey there queenjean...I have wide feet and have recently (2 pairs of shoes ago) switched over to Brooks and I can honestly say that I had no idea that a running shoe could feel so fabulous! I thought that pinched toes were just part of running. My feet have been extremely healthy and I was putting in some serious mileage there for a while. I hope that you find the right shoe for your feet (and knees!) soon, GOOD LUCK!

  3. Question on the new shoes and seperate to that - mileage, I also have wide feet if that makes a difference...

How long until your supposed to retire your running shoes? A certain amount of months? Miles?

  4. You should replace them...good rule of thumb...every 300-400 miles depending on how you run. I guess i'd go by how ya feel...

As for the wide feet...Brooks, Adidas, and Asics tend to have wider toe boxes. Get the shoes a 1/2 to a full size larger than your regular shoe size so that your foot has some room to splay out on impact. :)

I have little feet (wear a 6.5 runnin' shoe) and I prefer the wider toe box...I run in THREE different shoes:

Adidas Boston Classic (using these more as of late)
    Asics Gel Kayano
    Vasque Blur (trail runner's)

  5. Saucony ProGrid Paramount are great for wide feet too! I have bunions, lots of room in the toes!

  6. I also have bunions and am running in Mizunos with good comfort. I highly recommend visiting a specialty running store to have your feet measured and get advice on the best shoe for you. I ran in nothing but Saucony for years and never would have looked twice at Mizuno without the suggestion of the running store employee--and I love them!
