How often should I switch to new running shoes

  1. I average about 15 miles a week and wonder how often I should get new running shoes.

  2. Most experts suggest switching shoes between 200 and 400 miles... depending on how hard of a foot strike you have. I would say 200 miles is a safe approach. But you might be able to stretch it to 300 miles. To make it easier I'd say 14 weeks @ 15 miles per week.

  3. Well tammy it depends on your running style. I have shoes from my senior year in high school that have over 500 miles on them and they're in great shape. In fact, i ran 3 miles in them tonight.

  4. I use two pairs one pair for short runs 3 to 6 miles and one pair for my longer runs 7 miles and above. The second pair are a more sturdier shoe for the long haul. Using this method not only gives my shoes a chance to rebound it also keeps my legs fresh. I will replace each shoe at about 300 miles
