  1. Hello all!
I've been making good use of the training plans from this site to finish my first half and full marathon! Having done that, I'm interested in trying more intermediate and advanced (someday) plans. I was looking them over, and just need some things translated. In the intermediate marathon plan, there are a bunch of entries that say "8x1" or "10x1". Are these eight groups of 1 mile interval runs? Please advise.

  3. Check at the bottom of the plan, often there is a key to the coding. Like it will lay out what days are tempo, which are speed etc. But I would agree too that it is 8-1 mile intervals.

  4. Hello newbie runner,
8 x 1 refers to running 1 mile intervals 8 times. Choose the your goal pace, for example: You want to run 9 minute miles. Target running a mile at 8:55 minute pace, take a jog break, run your next interval at 8:55 minutes. The intervals will help you get faster. Soon you will be able to run 9 minute pace for the distance! Good luck!
